For those of us that have a pool, we also have a pool chlorinator. This innovation looks to make the regular replacement of chlorine tablets an easier proposition. Lucky for us, there are limited options and therefore we are probably using this very common pool chlorinator illustrated below. We know too well that the cover, over time, quickly begins breaking down. First the clip on the side breaks off, then the cover becomes very difficult to remove (unscrew), followed by the O-ring replacement being more tedious. If the O-ring is not seated correctly, it will cause the chlorinator to leak.

What’s the challenge?

The antiquated design of this very common pool chlorinator (Pictured below) makes replacing the chlorine tablets more difficult than it should be.  While the design is effective, over time its reliability in providing a good seal diminishes.  Not having a reliable seal in the chlorinator causes the water pressure inside the pool pump system to drop causing the water level to drop and in the end causing the pool pump to prematurely fail.

How does this innovation help?

This retrofit kit makes the replacing of the chlorine tablets much easier by simplifying the removal of the chlorinator cover and ensuring a reliable seal every time.

With the Pool chlorinator cover retrofit kit, now the task of removing the cover and replacing the chlorine tablets becomes much easier. The solution uses the pressure that builds when the pool pump is pressurized to keep the new cover from coming off. This balances the easy of tablet replacement with a safe and reliable seal for the cover.

This illustrates the pressure in the chlorinator, and how the new cover will attached and stay in place.

The base of the chlorinator remains in place. The retrofit kit adapter is attached / screwed and glued onto the chlorinator top - where the old cover was screwed to.

This illustrates how the retrofit kit is screwed onto the existing chlorinator base. Notice the black dots on the retrofit ring, these are the pressure nubs used to secure the new cover.
